Let’s get real for second here… if we could have done it on our own, we probably would have by now, right?
We’ve all had those “This is the weekend I finally tackle the closet!” moments, only to blink and realize that it’s Monday, the closet door is still jammed shut, and somehow the mess feels worse just from thinking about it.
That’s where challenges come in.
There’s something about being part of a group, having check-ins, and knowing someone’s cheering you on (and maybe watching) that makes a HUGE difference. It’s not about pressure, it’s about support and structure.
Here’s why accountability works so well when it comes to decluttering:
1. You stop putting it off
When someone’s expecting you to do something (even if it’s just sending in a photo or saying “I did it!”) you’re way more likely to actually do it. It’s like scheduling a workout with a friend. You don’t want to bail, and you feel good when you follow through.
2. You don’t feel alone in the overwhelm
Decluttering can feel like a mountain, and climbing it solo is exhausting. But when you’re in a challenge with other people, you realize everyone has a messy closet or a pantry full of mystery cans. You laugh together, share wins, and remind each other that progress is progress.
3. You get real-life tips and encouragement
Sometimes the problem isn’t motivation, it’s not knowing exactly how to make the space work better. Having someone (hi, it’s me!) in your corner means you’re not just getting inspired, you’re getting actual tools, ideas, and support from a professional.
4. You build momentum (this is my fave!)
Once you’ve cleared one drawer, it’s easier to tackle the next shelf, and then the big closet, and then the kitchen, and then the world! (or your garage… oh yes, I know alll about your garage). Plus, when someone’s saying, “Look at you go!” it builds confidence. Decluttering one space a week in a challenge feels manageable and I promise it’s surprisingly satisfying.
So if you’ve been meaning to get your home in order but keep pushing it down the to-do list… maybe what you really need isn’t a bigger bin.
Maybe you just need someone to say, “Let’s do it together.”
That’s the heart behind our Clear the Clutter Challenge. Real people, real homes, real life, and support every step of the way. And if you’ve ever thought “I just need a little accountability,” then you, my friend, are exactly the kind of person this was made for, and you can join us by clicking right here! (registration closes August 4th, 2025 at midnight).
If you’re seeing this later and have missed the challenge this time, don’t worry, there’s always more support where that came from. Send me an email at: [email protected] and let’s chat.
